Peace, safety and security are very essential for the growth and development of human culture and civilization. The world would be a nice place to live in if our material demands were fulfilled. We should respect man as man and not extinguish the spark of humanity that shines in all of us.
Peace has its blessing in the form of prosperity, progress, security, love, sympathy and coexistence. Peace allows the growth of culture an civilization. It showers fellowfeeligns, fraternity and equality among all people.
It helps in the smooth running of public administration. On the other hand, war causes destruction to human race. According to some people, war is an unavoidable condition to preserve human race. War keeps a man or a country alert an cautious.
It is a natural process and a necessity. If peace, if maintained for long, makes man dull, cowardly and submissive. On the whole, peace is essential condition to preserve human civilization. Peace has her victories no less renowned than war.
The invention of nuclear weapons like Atom-bombs, Hydrogen bombs and missbies have posed a very serious threat to world peace since they have been placed into the hands of shrews politicians. These weapons may be congenial to humar happiness if they are used proprely.
The devastation caused by the use of Atom-bomb and Hydrogen-bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the second world war can never be foregotten. If third world war breaks out and is fought with these dangerous weapons, the whole human race wil be destroyed
In the modern age, world-peace is a burning problem. Today the world is divided into two big-camps-the capitalist camp and communist camp. The capitalist countries have formed their own camp under the leadership of America and the communist countries in the leadership of Russia.
Both are equally powerful and possess atomic weapons of the latest designs. America and Russia have made military pacts with the countries of their respecitive camps. In almost every country, civil wars are being launched by the separatists wbo are being backed and supported by these two big powers.
The day is not fare when cold war will convert into hot war. Then the world will be reduced to ashes by the blazing flames of war. Almost every nation is subjected to political prejudice. The stronger nation tries to devour the weeker one.
The rich are growing richer, the poor the poorer. There are many burning examples as are to be faced by the countries such as 'The Victnam Crisis', 'The Oil Crisis', 'The Iran Iraq War', "The Afghanistan Problem', 'The Kampuchia Issue', 'The Akali Movement'. “The Assam Agitation' and 'The Tamil-Sinhali Riots in Shri Lanka', etc.
The political stunts, the communal riots, religious fanaticism and racial discrimination, etc. also threaten to disturb world peace. First of all, mutual trust, proper understanding and tolerance among all the countries of the world should be developed.
People should be prepared to give up their own interest for the larger interest of all mankind. Then only international tension may by reduced. The danger of world war be removed if the world problem are to be solved through peaceful negotiations.
The decisions of U.N. should be faithfully implemented. Nuclear tests should be banned and there should be complete disarmament. Today the need of worid peace is rightly justified. If world peace is not maintained this world will be destroyed.
Then who will rule and whom? Welfare of humanity should be preserved at all costs. What we need today is not material development but spirit of co-existence, mutual understanding, fellow-feeling and a sense of love and sympathy towards each and every man and woman.
All the nations should give up their greed and develop mutual trust and confidence. They should agree to solve their differences and disputes through peaceful negotiations. Only then world-peace may be established and the world may be saved from horror and destruction.
