Essay on A Visit To A Circus In English

The great Gemini Circus was in town. Since I had not seen any circus, my parents and I went to see it. There was a huge tent at the centre beautifully covered with thousands of coloured lights, a most attractive sight.

We purchased our tickets and went inside. We got seats very near the stage. There was music being played and within a short time the tent was packed. I was just waiting eagerly for the circus to start when suddenly the music stopped and a bell rang announcing the start of the circus.

At first, all the members of the circus company paraded on the stage led by the ring master. They waved at the audience who responded likewise. Then the first act started with a parade of lions following their trainer on to the stage.

Each lion got up and stood on small wooden stools on all four legs. The largest of the lions then opened his mouth wide and the trainer put his head into the open mouth. The audience were visibly relieved when the trainer took his head out. In their last act the lions jumped through rings of fire.

The next performer was an elephant. He was draped in a red and yellow cloth and wore a blue cap. He held a small flag in his trunk. Everytime the ring master threw a ball towards the elephant, he kicked it hard into the audience bringing great cheer from the crowd.

Soon after the elephant, came a red jeep hurtling onto the stage and jumped a long distance. In the corner in a big iron globe a motorcyclist rode at a very high speed in all directions. Then came a black bear with its cub riding a single wheeled cycle. It was an amazing sight

The bears were followed by the clowns, three of them, two of whom were tall and the third was a dwarf. With brightly coloured faces they got the audience roaring with laughter by clowning around. The best act and the final item was that of the trapeze artists who with their dare-devil stunts kept the audience spell bound and glued to the swings up in the air where the slightest mistake could end in a disaster.

After this final act the audience applauded for a long time in appreciation. Next the ring master bade farewell, a parrot sitting on his shoulder squeaked "Good Night" and the show ended.

Essay on A Visit To A Circus In English

The circus is a very popular form of entertainment in old days, when there were no computers, TV sets, mobile phones etc. People eagerly waited the arrival of a circus in their town or village. But today, the popularity of a circus is decreasing due to the modern means of entertainment. People prefer staying at home and watching movies, cartoons, sports, serials etc. on their TV set rather than going to watch a circus & spending money.

But I like to see the circus even today. The acts performed by wild animals amuse me a lot. Being wild animals they still obey the commands of their master at once. The joker is also funny. The people who do various stunts like walking on a rope or performing various acts on hanging ropes are thrilling. Their coordination and practice are remarkable.

I saw the famous Gemini circus on the Dussehra Day. All the people working in the circus were foreigners. It was being held at Azad maidan. There was a huge tent in the centre and a few smaller tents surrounding it.

When I, along with my parents went inside, I was very frightened to see such a large crowd. My father was continuously holding my hand. The show began sharp at 6 O'clock, In the beginning the gymnasts came in. They were very fit and active.

They amused the audience by doing various feats in the air. At times I felt that some of them would fall, but their co-operation and practice were so accurate, that there was not a single mistake done.

The band was playing continuously in the background. After the gymnasts two jokers came, without saying a word, they made us kings laugh hilariously through their actions. They performed a comic short story. After the jokers, the horses came in, they ran around the arena & the jockey did amusing beats feats.

After this the ringmaster entered with some lions. He cracked the whip & the lions obeyed him every time he did so. The ringmaster ordered them to jump through the rings lit with five & they obeyed. The monkeys that came in between after sometime in every show were very amusing as well.

The elephants who acted like husbandwife made us all laugh. At the end the exhibitor along with the whole crew came in the middle & saluted the audience, to signify that the show had finished.

I liked the circus very much because one most important think we get to learn from it is that if a person practices any things whatever he likes can be perfect in it. Most famous saying "Practice makes a man perfect." is proved true here.
