My Ambition in Life Essay
Everyone must have some ambition in life, some aim, some goal, in order to have a definite direction in which to go. My ambition is to become a journalist. I wish to become a famous journalist, writing reports about important events and incidents for newspapers and magazines.
I wish to be a journalist who seeks only the truth, and reports it honestly without fear or favour. I want to help people with my writing, especially the common people. My job will give me an opportunity to travel far and wide and to meet people of all types at various levels.
I know I will have to struggle hard to establish myself, and face many hardships. But I am determined to succeed. I want to do something, to change the world for the better, at least a little in my humble way.
I know that my job as a journalist will carry with it a lot of risk. But I am not afraid of that. I love excitement and thrill. I would not hesitate to go to places where there is a war going on in order to report about it. I know that the pen is mightier than the sword, and I will prove it.
In order to achieve my ambition, I will have to get my Master's degree in English and then take up a course in journalism. Or I will have to enrol myself for the new BMM course which has been just started by many Universities.
I will also have to learn shorthand and should be able to use the computer. I will also have to learn photography. These skills are a must for every successful journalist. I shall have to read a lot, in order to keep abreast of the current national and international affairs, and to improve my language, as well.
I have already begun to read a lot, and to watch the news programmes on TV. Not only that, I try and discuss important issues with my parents, friends and teachers. I have already begun to write for our college magazine; during the vacation, I will try to get a summer job in some newspaper office. I sincerely hope that my dream of becoming a famous journalist will come true.
