Essay on My Hobby
Apart from service or business, many people love to do something which gives them pleasure and that is defined as a hobby. There are a variety of hobbies, some are good, some are bad, injurious. However, most of the hobbies add pleasure to one's life.
They delight the person. Some people love collecting postal stamps, some find pleasure in helping others, some like to take and preserve photographs and so on. There is no limit to hobbies. Good hobbies always generates pleasure and that becomes a part of your life.
It changes the quality of life. Hobby can never be imposed on anyone. It is self existent. I remember I was around 10 years of age when I visited an exhibition arranged by some club where in different post-stamps from different nations were displayed.
Some stamps were in use 50 to 60 years old. That show I enjoyed very much and then I decided to start stamp collection. Now since last 5 years I am collecting stamps related to different subjects and from different countries.
Wherever I find a stamp not added to my collection I stick it in my album. Whenever government announces release of new stamp I aim at the post office to collect it. I have some relatives in USA and England and they appreciate my hobby and at the same they also keep collecting and sending stamps to me.
This resulted in very rich treasure of stamps, that presents different nations, certain unique geological pictures, pictures of many respectable individuals. Recently our school celebrated the golden jubilee year and I exhibited my stamp collection on this occasion.
My school friends, teachers and many dignitaries from the schools visited this exhibition and they praised my collection. I was honoured by a trophy and a certificate of appreciation.
My parents also encourage me and help me in collection of stamps. I have a dream in my mind that I collect more and more stamps and arrange an exhibition at state level and if possible at national level. I am confident I can do it in coming years.
I am proud of my hobby. I wish that every one should nurture some hobby because it generates pleasure and confidence. One can utilize his/her free time for constructive activity.
