Essay on Problem of Unemployment

 Essay on Problem of Unemployment

India is facing many problems and challenges since its independence. Jobless young generation is one of the major problems that we are facing today. If the youngsters do not get jobs as per their physical strength or educational qualification, naturally they get restless.

Nobody can thrive without money. A jobless person who has no money for livelihood, gets involved in many kinds of criminal acts like indiscipline, violence, terrorism, theft, burglary etc. an unemployed person remain frustrated.

Such a person becomes an easy and soft target for extremists, drug traffickers, smugglers and Mafias. Somehow he becomes a menace to the society. The problem has also given rise to corruption, nepotism.

There are many facets to this situation. The problerĥ of unemployment is all over the world, but its percentage is very high in India. It dates back to British rule when the British made every effort to disturb the age old economic system of India.

They used to export the raw material to England and in turn imported finalized goods thereby destroying the small scale industries. As a result the Indian Artisans lost their jobs and the problem of unemploy- ment aggravated.

Massive increase in the population is another factor behind this problem. Unfortunately, the government has failed miserably to create new job opportunities for the increasing population. There are millions of men and women who are jobless though they have the potential.

Our education system is framed in such a way that it is easy to get degrees but very hard to get a job on its basis. Jobless population is a menance to the peaceful atmosphere of the country. The solution for this problem is not so easy. To counteract the challenge, government has to be serious about birth rate, educational set-up, and also about creating new job opportunities.

India has deep roots in villages. Ours is the agricultural country. Government should pay more attention to the development programmes of agricultural land, farms and farmers. Our education system needs to be changed fundamentally to cater our industrial and technical needs.

Our villages should be made more self-dependent. Actually the problem needs to be tackled on many fronts simultaneously. Some hard decisions and drastic steps are the need of the hour.
