Pollution Essay in English

 Pollution Essay in English

Mankind and every living thing requires a balanced atmosphere to survive. But when harmful elements get mixed with the atmosphere or when some or the other element is missing, the atmosphere is said to be polluted.

Such polluted environment is harmful for everybody on the earth. Today whole world is trapped by the ill effects of pollution. Not a single aspect of our life is free from pollution. Sole responsibility of destructing our Mother Nature goes to mankind.

The problem was not so severe in olden days. A proper balance was maintained in the nature. The atmosphere and water was pure. But with the increase in human population the situation worsened. To satisfy the needs of man several products were invented.

To manufacture these products on a large scale, more and more factories were established. Every nation participated in the mad competition of industrialization. Unlimited use of the valuable wealth hidden deep in the earth continued. The natural wealth started depleting.

Drastic development of the cities, unlimited industrialization is the root cause of pollution. The amount of land available is sufficient to fulfill the needs of the ever increasing population. Forests are being cut down and land is made available.

The hazardous house hold effluents, sewerage and industrial waste are drained out either in the rivers or oceans. Such polluted rivers join the oceans and thus pollutes them. Tons of garbage, including atomic waste, is thrown in the oceans.

Due to the leakages in ships and tankers carrying oil and petroleum products, thousands of gallons of oil spread on the surface of sea water. This is the major threat to oceanic ecosystem. As the rivers are polluted, scarcity of pure, clean water is observed.

Sound pollution, air pollution and water pollution are driving mah crazy. The hearing capacity is impaired due to sound pollution. It produces many disorders like fatigue, restlessness, lack of sleep, breathing problems etc.

The ever increasing percentage of vehicles and traffic adds to air pollution. The toxic gases emitted by vehicles make the atmosphere poisonous. For more agricultural production, many toxic chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used in the fields.

These chemicals slowly percolate in our food and ultimately in our body. The synthetic colours and dyes used in the preparation of eatables are also dangerous for our body. All these things also adversely affect other living organisms on the earth. Many species of birds, animals and plants are endangered.

The first step towards controlling pollution is to control the population. Secondly, we should plant trees on a large scale. Cutting of trees should be banned strictly. The industries should be away from the cities.

They should have proper establishments of effluent treatment plants. The industries should have high rising chimneys. Excessive use of pesticides should be restricted. Small towns and villages should be self-sufficient in terms of jobs and employment.

The pollution made by vehicles should be reduced. Biodegradable products should be used as far as possible. Excessive use of plastic products should be restricted. And the most important thing is, everybody should contribute in this mission. Otherwise, we can imagine what would be the condition of this heavenly earth within few years from now.
