Essay on Peace and Harmony IN ENGLISH
Introduction-India is a land of many communities and religions. But we find news about communal riots almost every week or month. It may be Merrut one day. Amritsar on another and Baroda on a third day. If the situation is normal at these places, there may be communal disturbance somewhere else in the country.
Meaning of Communal Harmony Communal harmony means the co-existence of all communities in an atmosphere of peace and happiness. It implies that all communities should get equal opportunities for development.
Communal discord is at the root of many ills in the country. It is clear that there can be no social, political and economic development in the country without communal harmony. Life and property are lost during communal riots.
The government tries to control the situation. But then other constructive plans and schemes are suspended for the time being. There can be no constructive work in the absence of peace and security.
Many people think that what they believe is true, what they do is right, what they stand for is correct and all other things are trash. They do not understand the fact that human beings can have genuine differences of opinion.
Charges and counter charges vitiate the atmosphere. Our politicians and religious heads make the solution still worse. Sometimes the press also play a significant role in widening the irresponsible relations between two communities.
Peace does not make saleable news; war does. So irresponsible news give every disturbance a communal colour. Some foreign governments also like to destabilize the solution by supplying funds and weapons to such forces.
Communal Harmony-The problem of communal harmony is a serious problem. The government can not cope with it. It is duty of religious heads to do something positive. They should try to teach their followers tolerance
We always advocate the concept of international peace and one world government. But our advocacy will be meaningless if we are unable to end communalism. It is foolish to think that disputes will not exists but we have to find some means to settle amicably. Our concept of peace and friendship becomes meaningless if there is no communal harmony within the country.
The need of the day is not love but tolerance. Our leaders should not add fuel to the fire, they should expose such forces to make them ineffective. Our government should follow a secular policy and our official must be impartial.
Our educational institution should cultivate right attitude in our young men and women. They should learn how to live and let live. See our efforts should be made to bring about communal harmony and peace everywhere in the country.
Communal riots a blot-Communal riots are a blot on the fair name of our motherland. Ours is a secular democratic republic and the constitution forbids any kind of discrimination on the basis of sex or religion.
All are equal sons of Bharat Mata and it is the duty of the government to provide the ministers with security of life and property. Indeed the government has a special responsibility in this matter and any government worth the name must fulfill it.
The security forces like PAC, BSF, CRP etc. should be impartial in the discharge of their duty. Those found guilty of neglect of duty must be severely dealt with. Conclusion--Even greater is the responsibility of the leaders and statesmen of the country. Instead of pointing out the differences between Hindus and Muslims.
They should stress the similarities between the two. They must not exploit communal feelings for party interests. Social workers should come forward and try to create an atmosphere of peace, friendship and harmony. The two Hindus and Muslims should celebrate the festivals of each other.
Come together on ceremonial occassions and guard themselves against rumours and mischievous elements. Disputes like Ram Janam Bhoomi Babri Masjid should be solved peacefully through negotiations. They must not be allowed to disturb communal harmomy.
