MY GRANDMOTHER ESSAY IN ENGLISH

I like my grandmother. When I was a child she loved and fondled me with all her heart because I was her first grandchild. I grew up under her care. When I began to understand things, she told me stories of different types. Really her brain is a treasure-house of stories.

Even in this advanced age my grand-mother is quite hale and healthy. I have never seen her lying ill or taking medicines. I think the secret of her good health lies in regular food, walk, cool temper and peaceful life.

Everyday she gets up early in the morning. After taking bath, she prays to God for about an hour. She also recites bhajans. When this is over she goes to a temple.

My grandmother is respected by all the members of my family. She loves everybody and never becomes angry. On important matters my parents take her advice and follow her wishes. Even my neighbours respect her.

Whenever there is a domestic problem, they come to her for a solution. As she has got a lot of experience and deep insight, she is able to find a solution for them. Her persuasive power is unique.

From her long experience my grandmother has come to know many Ayurvedic medicines of daily use. Whenever a child in the neighbourhood becomes ill, its mother brings it to my grandmother. She suggests her to give it a simple powder or some such thing. In a day or two the child becomes all right.

My grandmother is a religious woman. She reads religious books. In the afternoon she reads Ramayana or Mahabharata. Women from neighbourhood come to hear her. Once in two years she goes on a pilgrimage.

As she is old, somebody from my family accompanies her. Her heart is full of milk of human kindness. She is kind towards all. She helps old women and poor children. Even towards animals she is kind.
My grandmother is a noble woman. She lives in this world, but has no interest in worldly matters. I as well as other members of my family love her very much.

DIFFICULT WORDS Advanced age-old age, Unique-uncommon.

ESSAY 2

MY GRANDMOTHER ESSAY IN ENGLISH

The general idea of a grandmother is a short woman, white or gray hair, wrinkled-face, shaking hands and bed time stories, while.my grandma fits exactly into some of these descriptions, she is not a story book kind of an old woman. Her physical appearance can only be a vague interpretation of her actual age.

As my grandpa was born in a small town of Maharashtra, he knows his date and place of birth but my grandma was born in a small village on the border of Karnataka & Maharashtra.

It is a place which both the states disown and thus lack of awareness is evident so, she doesn't know her date of birth, but she tells us many stories of British officers, when she went to Pune from her village it makes it clean, she attained her youth before independence.

I guess her age is above 70 as India had celebrated 62 years of independence. She has a fair skin and still black hair, with some traces of white. No doubt, she looked beautiful when she was young. It is also supported by the fact that she was a theater figure.

She was an actress and she has passed on some of here acting skills even to me During the annual day functions for the last few years I have been acting in school plays and also have got awards. I owe these awards to my grandma. Sometimes, she is called by my teachers in our school to see our practice and give her inputs.

Wherever she goes, she collects many people around her. As she cannot stay alone even for a minute. She likes to be with people and talk to them. When she starts she can talk on almost any topic as she has a vast store of general knowledge as well as updated current affairs.

She likes to read newspaper daily and in the afternoon instead of sleeping, she reads each and every news of the newspaper along with a few Marathi magazines and novels. This has greatly improved her command over the language.

When she starts speaking about something passionately, her words are worth listening, they are the melodies of the dark chocolate of her vocabulary coated into the sugar of her sweet motherly voice.

Although she is an illiterate she sometimes makes even learned men feel embarrassed by the depth of her knowledge and is often misunderstood for a teacher or professor of history by the people who meet her first time. Such is my grandma, loving, caring wise and youthful. I love her very much.
